Four Non-Invasive Procedures To Rejuvenate Your Face

By | Skincare | No Comments

For many people, the effects of aging can make us look older than we are. Our faces bear the brunt of these effects, with our skin losing its elasticity and wrinkles and spots popping up. If you’re looking to rejuvenate your face without cosmetic surgery there are four different methods you can try. Each is safe, effective and will restore your skin, giving it a youthful glow.

Non-Invasive Procedures To Rejuvenate Your Face

  1. Laser skin resurfacing

Don’t be scared of the word “laser”. These are highly concentrated beams of light energy that are used to improve our skin’s texture and tone. There are two types of lasers, ablative and nonablative. Ablative lasers get rid of the skin’s outer layers to encourage new skin to grow in its place. Although the laser penetrates deep under the skin’s surface, this ablative procedure is still considered non-invasive because no surgical incisions are involved. As for non-ablative laser procedures, these lasers do not break the skin’s surface but instead heat it up enough to promote the growth of new collagen, creating firmer, younger looking skin. Laser skin resurfacing minimizes the look of wrinkles and fine lines; treats redness, discolouration and brown spots; tightens skin; contributes to collagen production; and can get rid of unsightly facial hair.

  2. Chemical peels

This non-invasive skin procedure involves using a safe chemical solution that causes the outer layers of skin to peel away. Once the old skin peels away, new skin will reveal itself and you’ll have a younger looking, more even complexion. Chemical peels are able to minimize acne scars, smooth wrinkles and fine lines, brighten your complexion, reduce the appearance of age spots and sun damage, and tighten the skin.

  3. Microdermabrasion

This procedure is more like a deep exfoliation of the skin. The area being treated is exfoliated using a fine-tipped instrument or with a light application of abrasive particles. Once the skin is exfoliated it is vacuumed away leaving you with a brightened and improved skin tone. Microdermabrasion also helps to minimize wrinkles and fine lines, and reduces the appearance of age spots and acne scars.

  4. Dermabrasion

This is a more powerful form of microdermabrasion. Instead of using a fine-tipped instrument or light application of abrasive particles, a rapidly rotating instrument is used to remove the skin layer by layer. Dermabrasion reaches more deeply under the skin’s surface to encourage new cell growth. It can remove scars and blemishes, minimize the appearance of wrinkles, and create a smooth and more balanced complexion.

The 5 Foods You Should Start Eating For Glowing Skin All Winter

By | Skincare | No Comments

Winter can really take a toll on your skin. The change from hot to cold weather can push your skin to it’s limits. Acne flair-ups are more common in the winter, and the lack of sun can make your once glowing spring and summer skin look sallow. In addition to keeping your skin moisturized during the winter, there are some foods that you can eat to ensure that your skin looks its best during the harsh winter months. Below are 5 foods you should start eating for glowing skin all winter.

5 Foods For Glowing Winter Skin

Olive oil

Olive oil is rich in both vitamin E and vitamin A – two essential vitamins for healthy looking, glowing skin. If you don’t consume a lot of olive oil during the year, but use other vegetable oils to cook and bake, try substituting olive oil to give your skin an extra A and E boost during the winter.

Grapefruit

Grapefruit is an all around super food when it comes to promoting healthy looking skin. It contains vitamin C, antioxidants, potassium and a toxic flushing compound called naringin, which helps to flush toxins out of your liver. One of the best ways to promote healthy skin is to maintain a healthy liver.

Avocado

A great source of vitamin A, C and E, as well as monounsaturated fats, avocados are great at helping your skin lock in moisture, which is crucial when it’s so cold and dry out. It also contains folic acid, magnesium and potassium. Avocados are basically meant for your skin, and they also contribute to the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles.

Carrots

Most of us have be told our entire lives about the benefits of carrots for your eyes. But did you also know that carrots keep your skin hydrated from within? They are also great for keeping your skin protected against UV radiation and their potassium will help you fight back against the dryness. If you’re not a fan of eating carrots, you can try to incorporate it into a smoothie or use it in pressed juice.

Our skin is not designed to look its best when it is cold and dry. Many people who experience seasonal skin problems such as acne and rosacea flare ups during the winter feel stressed out. You can quickly see why showing your skin some extra love during the cold winter months is important. We expose our skin to a lot, but certainly more so when it’s freezing out. Incorporate the above foods into your diet this winter and see your skin glow all winter long.
