Avoid Hot Water
A nice long, hot bath may sound fabulous at the end of a long day, but it’s not going to hydrate your skin. In fact, it will do just the opposite. Try turning down the heat a bit and adding essential oils to the bath. Chamomile or jasmine works well, or try adding some licorice tea to the water.
Wash your face and hands in lukewarm water.
As soon as you towel off, start to moisturize your skin all over. Damp skin seals and traps in the moisture. Keep some moisturizers in various places in your home to use throughout the day, especially after washing your hands..
Another simple tip is to close the bathroom door when showering or taking a leisurely bath. It will help keep the humidity high.
Let Sleep Perform Its Magic
Don’t forget to use a rich moisturizer on your body before you go to bed, and that includes your hands and feet.
Take advantage of those 7 or 8 hours of isolation from the outside world to jump start the silky skin you crave. Maybe wear some soft gloves or socks too.
Avoid petroleum or alcohol based moisturizers. Look for oil-based products with lavender, chamomile, jojoba, coconut oil, and cocoa butter.
Avoid deodorant soap, retinoids, and alpha-hydroxy acid.
While Outside In The Elements
Dress in layers. Wear gloves outside and especially if you will be doing anything hard on your hands, or have the possibility of getting them wet. Don’t forget scarves and don’t put away your sunscreen. Use it wherever your skin is exposed to the sun. The winter sun can be just as damaging as in summer and sometimes even worse, due to snow glare.
Eat Healthy Hydrating Foods
Find foods that will help you stay warm and add to the moisture in your skin. Take an interest in soups. They are easy to prepare in a slow cooker, or buy them prepackaged.
Choose some water based fruits and vegetables during the winter. Cantaloupe, apples, oranges are all good choices. Add tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots to winter salads as Vitamin C helps to promote collagen.

Bring On The Humidity
Find humidity wherever you can get it. Your bathroom is a good place to start; as already mentioned close your door.
Buy a humidifier (or two) for your home. Be sure to put one in your bedroom. If you are more traditional, put a bowl of water on a radiator.
