How To Choose The Best Moisturizer For Your Skin Type

By | Skincare | No Comments

Browse through an aisle of moisturizers in any store and you can quickly become overwhelmed. With endless lotions, creams and serums, how to choose the right moisturizer for your skin type can be a daunting task.
Best Moisturizer For Your Skin Type
Let’s begin with some of the basics.

Some Basics

  • Just because you use a moisturizer on your body doesn’t mean you should use it on your face.
  • Always apply moisturizer after getting out of the shower or bath while you are still damp.
  • Dermatologists recommend using a product for either body or face with a minimum SPF 30.
  • If a moisturizer has anti-oxidants, it works for all skin types. It helps neutralize free radicals or molecules that break up the cells of your skin. Look for green tea and chamomile.
  • Avoid perfumes and colourings, which can irritate your skin.

Know Your Skin Type

This can sometimes be confusing. Just because you have oily skin in your 20s and are prone to blemishes does not mean you will be stuck with that issue forever. In fact, your skin type can change several times during your lifetime. Hormonal changes, your environment, and your genes all contribute to your skin type at any given period in your life.

Choosing the right moisturizer for your skin type will save you lots of grief.

Normal Skin / Combination Skin

Normal or combination skin is quite common and can be frustrating. Certain areas are usually more oily or dry than others. Think of the T-zone (nose and forehead), which seems to be more oily than the rest of the face. You might want to use two kinds of moisturizers to put your best face forward.

Consider gels, creams or lotions due their high water content. They will hydrate certain dry areas of the skin and provide some oil to maintain hydration. Best to avoid heavy creams.

Dry Skin

Dry skin feels tight and sensitive. Fine lines and wrinkles are more noticeable because dry skin has lost its ability to create natural hydration. Choose a moisturizing cream especially for dry skin. The drier your skin, the heavier the moisturizer cream should be. Find one containing hyaluronic acid (sodium hyaluronate) to deliver hydration directly to the skin cells.

Drink plenty of water each day and avoid caffeine and alcohol.

Oily Skin

Oily skin is characterized by enlarged pores, which can easily become clogged leading to acne. Contrary to what some may think, you still need to use a moisturizer on oily skin. Find a gel with a high water content since they have little wax, oils and emulsifiers. Consequently, they hydrate the skin without sitting on the skin. A gentle daily exfoliation helps prevent breakouts and keeps the skin balanced.

Unfortunately none of us has the smooth baby skin we were born with. Take time to find the right moisturizer for your skin type and you will be rewarded with brighter more youthful complexion no matter your age.

Tips To Update Your Skincare Routine For Spring

By | Skincare | No Comments

Updating your skincare routine for spring is easy. All you need is a little extra time in the morning and night to follow a cleansing regimen. If you’re looking to create a new routine or add something extra to your usual skincare habits, the following tips will help:

Spring Skincare Routine

Cleanse with care

Our skin can become very oily in the winter. It can also become very dry. Your skincare routine for spring should be about getting your skin balanced. Look for cleansers that have a pH balancing formula. Also, foams tend to work better than bars or cleansing oils. Some dermatologists even recommend cleansing twice. The first wash will remove makeup, while the second will actually remove dirt and grime from your pores. Before you cleanse your skin make sure you have clean hands. Wash your hands prior to washing your face so that you’re not scrubbing your skin with dirty hands.

Exfoliate with acid

When we say exfoliate with acid, we mean fruit acids and lactic acid. These are gentle exfoliators that remove the dead, flaky skin that goes hand-in-hand with winter. Look for exfoliating products that are gentle and contain the aforementioned acids to give your skin a smooth, bright glow.

Tone down your foundation

Although foundation is a great tool for making our skin appear fresh and balanced, we tend to overdo it. Don’t go crazy with foundation and try to cover every blemish until it’s a cakey mess. Instead, let your skin breathe and use only a light coat of foundation. Moreover, leave the cover-ups behind and use spot-treatments instead. Spot-treatments are applied directly to the zit or blemish and left on while you sleep. Depending on the state of your skin, some blemishes and zits targeted with a spot-treatment disappear overnight while others take a day or two to go away.

Moisturize lightly

In the spring, switch to a lighter moisturizer so your skin won’t get weighed down. The moisturizers we need in the winter are heavier to provide a barrier against the cold. However, the spring calls for something lighter.

Wear sunscreen

Before your leave the house, apply sunscreen. Some moisturizers and foundations contain SPF but it’s not enough. An additional layer of sunscreen adds a much needed barrier against the sun’s harmful rays.

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate

Use a hydrating toner to keep your skin from drying out. You should also drink water. If you don’t like the taste of water — it can be boring — force yourself. The more water you drink, the better your skin.

Taking care of your skin may seem tedious but neglecting even the smallest part of your routine can cause breakouts and blemishes. However, if you adhere to the aforementioned tips, you’ll have clear skin to match the clear (and sometimes rainy) skies of spring.

Eight Foods That Can Cause Excessive Sweating

By | Excessive Sweating | No Comments

If you’re brave enough to bite into a jalapeno pepper, your body will go into overdrive. Besides your mouth feeling like it’s on fire, you start sweating up a storm. There are certain foods that will make you sweat excessively; so, if you’re looking to have a peaceful meal, avoid these eight bites:

Foods That Can Cause Excessive Sweating

  1. Fatty and processed foods:

Chocolate, white bread, fast food and other foods that are processed make you perspire. Your body needs to work extra hard to process these foods causing you to sweat extensively while you eat and while you digest.

  2. Sodium overkill:

Foods that are high in salt can make you sweat profusely. When you eat too much salt, your body will do what it can do get rid of the sodium by making you sweat. Try and keep your sodium consumption to 4 grams daily, that way you’ll sweat less.

  3. High-fat milk:

If you consume high-fat milk you probably noticed that you perspire while drinking it. As we noted in #1, foods that are high in fat will make you sweat. To avoid perspiring into your morning bowl of cereal, switch to low-fat or skim milk.

  4. Hot peppers:

Hot peppers contain capsaicin, which is a chemical that stimulates the nerve receptors in your mouth and convinces your nervous system into thinking you’re hot. Your brain then sends a signal to your sweat glands to get cracking and cool you down.

  5. Spicy foods:

When you eat spicy foods you’re confusing your body into thinking it’s a hot day. When it’s hot outside, your sweat glands kick into high gear and start cooling you down. When you eat spicy foods, the same thing occurs.

  6. Soup:

Whether you’re eating a heaping bowl of minestrone soup or sipping on a cup of chicken broth, you will probably find yourself sweating. This is because soups are generally served hot and your body will do everything in its power to cool you down while you slurp.

  7. Alcohol:

Alcohol consumption makes us sweaty. When we drink alcoholic beverages, the blood vessels in our skin can widen, leading to our body temperature going up. Our sweat glands try to fight our increased body temperature by making us perspire.

  8. Coffee:

Everyone’s favourite morning pick-me-up contains caffeine, which stimulates our central nervous system. When our central nervous system gets provoked, our sweat glands spring into action to try and cool us down. Whether you take it hot or iced, coffee makes you sweat. Plus, if you add sugar and high-fat milk to your cup of joe, you’re adding more fuel to the sweaty fire.

If you do find yourself sweating excessively after every meal, no matter what you eat, please contact your doctor. You could be suffering from hyperhidrosis, a condition that is characterized by excessive sweating.

Home Remedies For Winter Skin

By | Skincare | No Comments

When it gets cold outside and we crank the heat up inside, our skin suffers. If you’re plagued by dry, cracked skin in the winter, there are some great home remedies you can try to give your epidermis a much needed boost. Our skin needs to stay hydrated, which can be a challenge in the winter. However, if you try the following fixes, you’ll notice softer, more radiant skin in no time.

Home Remedies For Winter Skin

  1. Almonds and milk

For this you will need 1 tablespoon of almond powder and 2 tablespoons of raw milk. Mash these ingredients together until they make a paste, then apply it to your face and other dry skin areas. Leave it on for 10 minutes before massaging it off gently with water. Milk can keep the skin hydrated while almonds are bursting with vitamin E and essential fatty acids that act as exfoliators when applied directly to the skin.

  2. Yogurt and buttermilk

Zinc, calcium and vitamin B6 are all enzymes found in yogurt. These enzymes cleanse the skin and help lighten the appearance of blemishes. Buttermilk contains lactic acid that acts as a peeling agent to get rid of dull, flaky skin. It also gets rid of the itch that goes along with dry skin. For this remedy you’ll need 1 cup of yogurt and 1 cup of buttermilk. Mix them together and leave on your skin for 15 to 20 minutes before washing it off with water.

  3. Petroleum jelly

Most people have tubs of petroleum jelly lying around the house, making this home remedy an easy one to do. Simply apply the petroleum jelly (often known by its brand name of Vaseline) on your dry skin and massage it for a minute or so until it absorbs. Petroleum jelly can also be used on the lips because it is an emollient, perfect for getting rid of the cracks and peeling our lips suffer during the colder months.

  4. Olive oil and egg yolk

Eggs aren’t just for omelets. Egg yolk is rich with Vitamin A and lecithins that can help correct dry skin. When mixed with olive oil, the egg yolks, combined with the natural antioxidants from the olive oil will make your skin so hydrated it’ll glow. You’ll need two egg yolks and three to four drops of olive oil, applied directly to the face at least twice weekly to achieve that glow, but it’s worth it. Mix the two ingredients together, put it on your face for about 20 minutes, then wash off with water.

  5. Lemon and honey

You will need half a lemon, 2 tablespoons of honey and a cotton ball. Squeeze the juice out of the lemon, add to the honey and mix well. Apply the mixture to your dry skin with the cotton ball and leave on for 10 minutes before rinsing off with water. Lemons are rich in vitamin C, and combined with the honey’s anti-inflammatory properties this mixture helps to soothe that itchy dry skin the winter brings.

  6. Banana mask

With half of a banana and 1 teaspoon of honey, you can create a soothing facial mask that’ll lock in moisture. Mash the banana and the honey together until there are no lumps. Apply this mixture to your face for about 20 minutes and then rinse with water. Besides nourishing your skin with vitamins C, B6 and A, bananas also have anti-aging capabilities that fight the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Please be mindful of allergies. If you notice any redness, during or after applying any of these home remedies visit your doctor immediately.

Four Non-Invasive Procedures To Rejuvenate Your Face

By | Skincare | No Comments

For many people, the effects of aging can make us look older than we are. Our faces bear the brunt of these effects, with our skin losing its elasticity and wrinkles and spots popping up. If you’re looking to rejuvenate your face without cosmetic surgery there are four different methods you can try. Each is safe, effective and will restore your skin, giving it a youthful glow.

Non-Invasive Procedures To Rejuvenate Your Face

  1. Laser skin resurfacing

Don’t be scared of the word “laser”. These are highly concentrated beams of light energy that are used to improve our skin’s texture and tone. There are two types of lasers, ablative and nonablative. Ablative lasers get rid of the skin’s outer layers to encourage new skin to grow in its place. Although the laser penetrates deep under the skin’s surface, this ablative procedure is still considered non-invasive because no surgical incisions are involved. As for non-ablative laser procedures, these lasers do not break the skin’s surface but instead heat it up enough to promote the growth of new collagen, creating firmer, younger looking skin. Laser skin resurfacing minimizes the look of wrinkles and fine lines; treats redness, discolouration and brown spots; tightens skin; contributes to collagen production; and can get rid of unsightly facial hair.

  2. Chemical peels

This non-invasive skin procedure involves using a safe chemical solution that causes the outer layers of skin to peel away. Once the old skin peels away, new skin will reveal itself and you’ll have a younger looking, more even complexion. Chemical peels are able to minimize acne scars, smooth wrinkles and fine lines, brighten your complexion, reduce the appearance of age spots and sun damage, and tighten the skin.

  3. Microdermabrasion

This procedure is more like a deep exfoliation of the skin. The area being treated is exfoliated using a fine-tipped instrument or with a light application of abrasive particles. Once the skin is exfoliated it is vacuumed away leaving you with a brightened and improved skin tone. Microdermabrasion also helps to minimize wrinkles and fine lines, and reduces the appearance of age spots and acne scars.

  4. Dermabrasion

This is a more powerful form of microdermabrasion. Instead of using a fine-tipped instrument or light application of abrasive particles, a rapidly rotating instrument is used to remove the skin layer by layer. Dermabrasion reaches more deeply under the skin’s surface to encourage new cell growth. It can remove scars and blemishes, minimize the appearance of wrinkles, and create a smooth and more balanced complexion.

Plastic surgery isn’t for everyone but if you’re looking to have a non-invasive procedure done to rejuvenate your face, we can help. Contact us today for more information. Let’s get you the beautiful skin you deserve.

The 5 Foods You Should Start Eating For Glowing Skin All Winter

By | Skincare | No Comments

Winter can really take a toll on your skin. The change from hot to cold weather can push your skin to it’s limits. Acne flair-ups are more common in the winter, and the lack of sun can make your once glowing spring and summer skin look sallow. In addition to keeping your skin moisturized during the winter, there are some foods that you can eat to ensure that your skin looks its best during the harsh winter months. Below are 5 foods you should start eating for glowing skin all winter.

5 Foods For Glowing Winter Skin

Olive oil

Olive oil is rich in both vitamin E and vitamin A – two essential vitamins for healthy looking, glowing skin. If you don’t consume a lot of olive oil during the year, but use other vegetable oils to cook and bake, try substituting olive oil to give your skin an extra A and E boost during the winter.

Grapefruit is an all around super food when it comes to promoting healthy looking skin. It contains vitamin C, antioxidants, potassium and a toxic flushing compound called naringin, which helps to flush toxins out of your liver. One of the best ways to promote healthy skin is to maintain a healthy liver.

A great source of vitamin A, C and E, as well as monounsaturated fats, avocados are great at helping your skin lock in moisture, which is crucial when it’s so cold and dry out. It also contains folic acid, magnesium and potassium. Avocados are basically meant for your skin, and they also contribute to the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles.

Most of us have be told our entire lives about the benefits of carrots for your eyes. But did you also know that carrots keep your skin hydrated from within? They are also great for keeping your skin protected against UV radiation and their potassium will help you fight back against the dryness. If you’re not a fan of eating carrots, you can try to incorporate it into a smoothie or use it in pressed juice.

Our skin is not designed to look its best when it is cold and dry. Many people who experience seasonal skin problems such as acne and rosacea flare ups during the winter feel stressed out. You can quickly see why showing your skin some extra love during the cold winter months is important. We expose our skin to a lot, but certainly more so when it’s freezing out. Incorporate the above foods into your diet this winter and see your skin glow all winter long.

5 Diets Guaranteed To Make Your Skin Glow

By | Skincare | No Comments

Your lifestyle habits, including tanning, smoking, and what you eat can influence the condition of your skin either positively or adversely. While there are numerous cosmetics on the market that are advertised as “skin food,” the fact is that getting and maintaining a healthy complexion does not require a manufactured or packaged product.

Eating Habits For A Glowing Skin

While there are some good lotions and cleansers that seem to offer topical solutions to your skincare concerns, getting truly dazzling and hydrated skin starts with what is on your plate. In fact, there are certain foods that are known to ward off premature ageing, treat acne, reduce the appearance of fine lines, and even fight against pesky skin conditions. When included in your diet, these foods provide the body with the necessary tools strengthen and develop healthy skin tissues, nourish the skin, and make it glow. They include:

  1. Natto

This Japanese dish is prepared from soybeans that are boiled and fermented with bacteria in order to increase their nutritional value. Natto has plenty of dietary vitamin K2, which promotes bone and cardiovascular health and boosts skin elasticity to prevent wrinkles.

The dish also contains gut-healing probiotics that prevent inflammation, which in turn keeps skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and acne that stem from inflammation at bay.

  2. Salmon

Salmon is not only rich in anti-inflammatory omega-3s, but also dimethylaminoethanol (DMAE) that is known to promote healthy skin since it strengthens cell membranes. This, in turn, prevents the deterioration that results in premature ageing.

DMAE also inhibits the production of arachidonic acid (AA) that causes inflammation and wrinkle formation, and works with B vitamins to boost acetylcholine levels – neurotransmitters that promote muscle function to help maintain the tone and firmness of your face.

  3. Tomatoes

Tomatoes contain a phytochemical known as lycopene that strengthens collagen – the protein responsible for giving the skin its taut and youthful structure. Lycopene also protects the skin against the oxidising effect of UV radiation by getting rid of free radicals that cause skin ageing.

  4. Carrots

They are not only great for your eyes, but also your skin. They contain lots of vitamin A and beta-carotene that inhibits the production of cells in the outer layer of the skin, helping to reduce the flaky dead cells that cause the skin pores to clog when combined with sebum.

  5. Sweet potatoes

Nearly all fruits and vegetables contain vitamins and antioxidants that give you a healthier and more attractive skin with a radiant glow. But studies suggest that red and orange vegetables, including the two mentioned above, sweet potatoes, and many others that contain carotenoids (give plants the red colour) give the best skin complexion when consumed regularly owing to the disease-fighting properties of carotenoids.

Generally, most diets containing fruits, vegetable, and nuts provide vitamins and minerals with anti-inflammatory properties and other effects that are guaranteed to make your skin youthful and glowing. The Most Popular Procedures in your 20s, 30s and 40s

By | Cosmetic Procedures | No Comments

Many of us have one of two things that, if we had the opportunity, we could like to change about ourselves. It may be a small bump on the nose only we notice, ears that we may feel stick out more than we would like, or a bevy of other personal displeasures. As we age, feelings about certain parts of our body change, and we look to combat these things. It goes without saying that as you age, you require different procedures to combat certain aspects of aging. You may not know what procedures to investigate further based on your age. Here are a few essential facts to know about the most popular procedures based on your age!

Most Popular Procedures

When you’re in your 20s, not many people opt for having age combating procedures just yet. Most of the procedures undertaken while someone is in their 20s are augmentation; for example if there is a part of your body that you’re unhappy with or has been causing discomfort, such as a deviated septum, or breasts that cause back pain. These are the most common procedures undertaken during this age range. One of the most popular is procedures is rhinoplasty, which is the augmentation of the nose. The nose is a very prominent feature, so if there is an aspect of it that you’re unhappy with, many people choose this as the first procedure they want to have done.

Another extremely popular procedure at this age is lip augmentation. There are numerous ways of achieving lip augmentation, and this procedure remains popular throughout the age groups. Lastly, breast augmentation, lift, and even reductions are incredibly popular. This is another procedure that often has been long thought out by the person undertaking it, and can help to drastically improve one’s positive sense of self and confidence. Though the procedure really depends on the person and what their desired outcome is, these are 3 of the most popular for people in their 20s!

As we enter our thirties, our metabolism begins to slow down and putting in the same amount of time at the gym in combination with a well balanced diet just doesn’t have the same effect as it used to. That’s why, for many in their 30’s, there is a much higher demand for procedures such as liposuction and abdominoplasty. These procedures remove unwanted and stubborn fat, while also smoothing out skin. Liposuction can be applied to Abdomen, Hips and thighs, Buttocks, Chest and neck Upper and lower back Calves and ankles. Another option for a less invasive procedure for the same results is Body TITE!

In addition, perhaps towards the later 30s, there’s an increased popularity in Botox. Though wrinkle procedures are most commonly undertaken to improve appearance, they can also improve TMJ and even migraines. Lastly, breast augmentation remains one of the most popular procedures. Breast augmentation doesn’t necessarily mean larger implants it can also mean lifting and augmenting the existing breast tissue!

The 40s are when signs of aging start to really show in most people. Though wrinkles and fine lines may not be overtly visible, they certainly are an annoyance making us appear tired. In addition, a large number of women will have had children by this age, thereby changing their body. On account of this, many women are opting for wrinkle treatment to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles, and tightening the neck and face. Our wrinkle treatment is effective in treating crow’s feet, laugh or smile lines, frown lines and even worry lines. In addition, dermal fillers can combat sunken cheeks, thin lips, acne scarring and accentuating eyebrows.

Furthermore, many women in their 40s will opt to have body sculpting or liposuction procedures undertaken to reverse the changes in their body caused by having children. Body TITE works in 4 ways to reduce fat, body contour, reduce cellulite and tighten the skin. Many consider Body TITE to be better than traditional liposuction because it is less traumatic to the body, and provides more uniform results. To combat both aging and the impact of having children, many women will opt to have a breast lift and/or augmentation to revitalize their breasts. A breast augmentation procedure will help to achieve perkier more youthful looking breasts. This can achieve improved body image, self confidence and improved self esteem.

5 Ways To Look And Feel Your Best In 2016

5 Ways to Look and Feel Your Best in 2016

By | Advice, Treatments | No Comments

It’s hard to believe that 2016 is already here! A new year is full of hope, promise, and new beginnings, as everyone begins to work towards fulfilling new years resolutions. The majority of you may have made resolutions related to health and wellness. Are we right? While everyone makes resolutions (health related or not), the majority of these resolutions tend to be broken a few months into the year. This year, that is all about to change.

Here are 5 steps to help you look and feel your best this year, as well as some simple tricks to help you stick to these steps, year-round!

  1. Eat Clean

We all live busy lifestyles, and it often seems easier to order take out, delivery, or munch on junk food rather than make the effort to prepare healthy food. As you may have encountered, eating poorly can make you feel tired, and can lead to several chronic diseases. In order to make sure you stick to your goals, make a plan for yourself. If you are planning on eating out, choose a place with healthy alternatives. Toronto has a large selection of restaurants with healthy options. Give one of these 10 healthy restaurants a try the next time you are planning an outing with your friends and family in Toronto. Making a meal plan for the upcoming week will also help you eat healthier, as well as save money! Just remember, don’t be so hard on yourself. Rather, celebrate all your successes and continue chasing your goals.

  1. Exercise Regularly

Exercising regularly, partnered with eating healthier, are the most popular resolutions made by North Americans every year. Being physically active can help you reach your dream body goals, as well as keep your body and mind in top shape. Integrating a quick workout into your daily routine is a simple way of making sure you stick with your goals. Try incorporating exercises right as you wake up, before your shower, during your lunch break, or before bedtime. While going to the gym 5 days a week is a great form of exercise, is that a realistic goal for you? If so, go for it! If not, consider other forms of exercise that you can actually stick to all year-round. Alternatively, choose exercises that appeal to you, such as dance classes, yoga or sports. Exercising helps you keep your bones strong, build muscle, reduce body fat, and much more; so make it fun and stick to it!

  1. Reduce, Tighten and Shape

Everyone has those problem areas that seem impossible to get rid of, even with exercise and healthy eating. Luckily, there are 2 procedures that may be just what you need to help start the year with your dream body. Body TITE is a minimally invasive procedure that provides body firming results and reduces fat in those areas that you are unhappy with. This procedure reduces fat, tightens the skin, and reduces cellulite in problem areas such as the abdomen, thighs, hips, knees back and arms. RFAL technology is used to remove excess fat through a small incision, ultimately leading to body tightening of up to 40%. The best part is that results can be seen immediately, with best results noticeable after 6-12 weeks!

Alternatively, Body FX is a painless non-surgical treatment that helps reduce fat and provide a more toned body. This treatment uses vacuum massage to melt away fat cells in many areas of the body, including the lower and upper abdomen, inner and outer thighs, the buttocks, the back, and bra line. There is virtually no recovery time with Body FX, and the results are permanent if you continue your exercise regime, and eat healthy.

  1. Reverse Signs of Aging

It may be a new year, but your face doesn’t need to show it! Treatments such as dermal fillers and fractora can help you achieve a more youthful appearance. Dermal fillers are injected into different areas of the face to add volume and correct various cosmetic issues. The injections require zero downtime, and the results typically last for several months. Fillers can be used to fill in fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, and more.

Fractora skin rejuvenation is a skin treatment that uses radio-frequency energy to stimulate collagen production, leading to a more youthful look. Results include a more even skin tone and texture, tighter pores, smoother and firmer skin and reduced wrinkles. Consider this your radio frequency facial!

  1. Reduce Stress

While you may think that you work better under a little stress and it makes you more productive, stress negatively impacts your health. Stress can give you headaches, make you feel fatigued, lead to overeating or undereating, and a lack of motivation. Make it your resolution to not only start 2016 stress-free, but continue to cut down your stress levels all year long.  Some simple ways to reduce your stress include exercising regularly, eating a healthy diet, and spending time with friends, family, and loved ones.

At Clearview Plastic Surgery, we would like to help you meet all your resolutions and body goals by providing you with customized, state-of-the-art treatments. We hope that 2016 is your best year yet, and you look and feel your best all year long. Book your free personalized consultation today to get started!

Gift Idea: His And Hers Procedure

Gift Idea: His and Hers Procedures

By | Cosmetic Procedures, Treatments | No Comments

It’s that time of year again. Christmas décor and holiday lights have taken over everywhere you go, Christmas songs and carols play on every radio station and in every store, and the holiday shopping rush is in full swing. With the fun parties and family get-togethers also comes the struggle of finding the perfect holiday gift for your significant other. This year, why not try something different?

Couple activities drive the spirit of togetherness and strengthen ties among each other. This year, treat yourself and your significant other to a couple makeover. This shared experience will allow you both to address the aesthetic concerns that may have been bothering you for some time, while also strengthening your bond.

Take a look at our list of the best couple makeover treatments:

Body Contouring

Both men and women have those problem areas that they just can’t seem to get rid of with regular exercise and healthy eating. These procedures specifically target particular areas of the body to help you both fulfill your body goals:

  • Body TITE is a minimally invasive procedure that tightens and smooths the skin while also reducing fat all in one. This procedure works well for the abdomen, buttocks, hips, thighs, knees, back and arms.
  • If all of the sit-ups and planks you have been doing have not been successful in tightening your midsection, Abdominoplasty (also known as tummy tuck) may be the perfect solution for you. This procedure involves the removal of excess skin and fat deposits from the midsection, while tightening weakened abdominal muscles. Finally, the remaining skin is pulled down to flatten and tighten the stomach.
  • Liposuction works well for areas that look out of proportion due to excess body fat. Deposits of fat are removed from the body using a process similar to vacuuming. Common areas of the body that respond well to liposuction are the abdomen, hips and thighs, buttocks, chest and neck, upper and lower back and calves and ankles.
  • If you are looking for a painless non-surgical treatment to reduce body fat, Body FX it is! Combining radio frequency energy pulses and heat together with vacuum massage, this treatment eliminates fat and tightens the skin to give you stunning body-contouring results. Treatments are once a week for approximately 45 minutes for up to 6 weeks, with virtually no recovery time.

Facial Rejuvenation

Perhaps visible signs of facial aging are more of a concern for you and your loved one. With age, wrinkles, facial folds and sagging skin slowly begin to appear. While it is impossible to turn back time, you can reverse the effects of aging with these procedures:

  • Dermal Fillers help hydrate and plump up the skin using a naturally occurring substance in the human body. This treatment smooths away fine lines, wrinkles and acne scars and may also be used to fill out cheeks that have a sunken-in look or plump up thin lips.
  • A minimally invasive alternative to the Face Lift, is Face Tite. This treatment eliminates fat or droopy areas of the face and neck using a radiofrequency technology. This short treatment will re-contour and tighten the skin of areas like the brow and cheek, neck area and jowls.
  • FORMA and FORMA Plus are non-surgical treatments that tighten, lift and improve the texture and smoothness of the skin by producing collages as well as contracting the skin.
  • Droopy eyelids and dark circles under your eyes may be adding years to your appearance. If that is the case, Blepharoplasty (also known as Eyelid Lift) is the right procedure for you. The procedure involves the removal of excess skin and/or the removal of fat from the upper and/or lower eyelids for a more youthful, energetic appearance.

Mix and Match

Of course, you and your significant other do not need to undergo the same procedure. Maybe you are more interested in eliminating signs of sun damage and aging, while your loved one has always wanted to get rid of the extra skin on their arms. Feel free to mix and match treatments to fit your specific needs and goals.
